SAFE Dog Walking & Pet Care began with a heartfelt realization.
Founder Selma Ferreira, a lifelong animal lover and dedicated entrepreneur, discovered her true calling while assisting a client of another business she founded. When that client became ill, Selma stepped in to care for their dog, Dakota, and quickly felt a deep sense of joy and purpose. It was a moment that changed everything.
Soon after, Selma welcomed her own furry best friend, Cheyenne, into her life. When her work schedule suddenly shifted, Selma struggled to find someone she could trust to care for Cheyenne in her absence. That personal challenge inspired her to create something new: a professional, in-home pet care and dog walking service that pet owners could truly rely on.
Today, SAFE Dog Walking & Pet Care proudly serves the San Francisco East Bay, including Alameda, Danville, Oakland, Berkeley, and Orinda. We specialize in helping busy professionals and families by providing dependable, loving care for their pets, whether it’s for daily walks or during vacations.
Selma personally selects and manages a small, dedicated team of caregivers who share her values of honesty, love, trust, and confidence.

In-Home Pet Care
When you're traveling or simply need extra help, our premium in-home pet care offers the comfort of home for your pets. We care for dogs, cats, and other small animals with services that include feeding, fresh water, litter box or cage cleaning, medication administration, socialization and playtime.
Every visit is tailored to your pet’s specific needs, routines, and temperament. We also provide light home care, like bringing in mail or watering plants, to keep your home looking lived-in and secure.
Selma personally selects and trains every caregiver to ensure a consistent, trustworthy experience rooted in love, honesty, and professionalism.

SAFE Pet Care is a fully insured, small, family-owned business committed to honesty, love, and trust. Led by founder Selma Ferreira, we care for your pets as if they were our own. Every member of our close-knit team is personally selected and trained to deliver dependable, compassionate service that gives you complete peace of mind.
๐ Dog Walking:
$35 per walk
A reliable and friendly option for dogs who need mid-day movement or consistent companionship.
- $10 for a second dog from the same household
- Weekly rates available by request
๐ฅพHiking Adventures:
$50 per hour
For dogs who love the outdoors, this service includes pick-up, trail time, water breaks, and the joy of exploration.
- Available as solo or small group outings based on your dog’s temperament.
๐ Overnight House Sitting:
$125 per night for the first 4 nights
Your pet stays in the comfort of your home while we provide walks, feeding, and affection.
- Each additional night is $100
- A great option for families heading out of town.
๐พ Cat Care Visits:
$30 per visit
Personalized visits include feeding, litter cleaning, medications if needed, and plenty of cuddles and play for your feline friend
